During its first six months of operation after launching in the spring of-2020, the Horizon Neighbors In Health (HNIH) program operated by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) screened 2,588 people for non-medical needs that were considered social determinants of health (SDOH). During this analysis, Horizon BCBSNJ found that the top needs were financial stability, basic health care, and food.
