Physical health care costs and total health care costs in 2017 were 2.6 to 3.3 times higher among commercially insured consumers with a behavioral health disorder compared to those with none. Total per member per month (PMPM) health care costs for people with no behavioral health diagnosis were $426. Total PMPM costs for people with behavioral health disorders ranged from $1,109 to $1,420.
