Turnover & Staffing Remain Key Concerns For I/DD Direct Support Professional Workforce
Though there have been marked improvements in recent years, workforce survey data continue to show high turnover and vacancy rates among direct support professionals (DSPs), creating ongoing challenges for provider organizations as they work to consistently meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
The National Core Indicators Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (NCI-IDD) collaborative conducted a survey of 3,936 provider agencies representing 344,179 DSPs in 26 states and the District of Columbia. The findings continue to showhigh turnover and increased vacancy rates.
