Two Mental Health Crisis Treatment Bills Head To Oregon Governor For Signature
On May 31, 2017, two mental health bills were passed out of the Oregon legislature and sent to Governor Kate Brown for signature. House Bill (HB) 3090 would require hospital emergency room employees to create discharge plans for any mental health patients, whether or not they have been formally admitted. HB 3091 would require health insurance companies to cover behavioral health checks, and requires the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) to establish, by rule, the requirements for coordination of care and case management services to facilitate continuity of care from the emergency room setting to a community . . .
