About two-thirds of nursing homes that graduated from the federal Special Focus Facility (SFF) program were not able to sustain the improvements made during the program, according a program analysis by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The OIG found that within three years, 64% of the SFF graduate facilities had received a serious deficiency citation, indicating that the improvements made while in the SFF program had not been sustained.
