U.S. Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Dementias Care Costs Projected To Reach $459 Billion In 2026
The United States is projected to spend $459 billion in 2026 on the treatment, paid care, and unpaid caregiving associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), according to a recent study. The total includes $222 billion in medical and long-term care spending and $237 billion representing the estimated value of unpaid caregiving provided by family members and friends.
An estimated 5.7 million adults ages 51 and older are living with dementia in the United States, supported by approximately 5.2 million family caregivers and care partners.
