U.S. Heart Failure Death Rate Increased 15% Between 2019 & 2022
The death rate due to heart failure rose 15% between 2019 and 2020, from 93 per 100,000 in 2019, to 107 per 100,000 in 2022. The 2022 rate is essentially the same as the 1999 rate of 106 per 100,000 population.
Between 1999 and 2012, the heart failure death rate had declined 23.5%, from 106 deaths per 100,000 population to 81 deaths per 100,000. However, after reaching that low, the rate began rising gradually each year.
