U.S. Veterans With Depression At 14% Higher Risk Of Heart Failure
U.S. veterans with depression were 14% more likely to develop heart failure (HF) than veterans without depression, according to an analysis of data from the Veterans Affairs (VA) Birth Cohort study. These findings are independent of traditional sociodemographic and cardiovascular risk factors for HF. The researchers concluded that depression may be a modifiable risk factor for HF.
