U.S. Veterans With Depression At 58% Higher Risk Of Heart Failure
U.S. veterans with depression and no additional comorbidities had a 58% higher hazard of incident heart failure (HF) compared to veterans without depression, according to an analysis of data from the Veterans Affairs (VA) Birth Cohort study. The researchers calculated that, independent of traditional sociodemographic and cardiovascular risk factors for HF, veterans with depression were 14% more likely to develop HF than veterans without depression.
