Proportion Of Population Uninsured Expected To Drop To 11% In Cities In Medicaid Expansion States
The proportion of uninsured individuals in seven cities in Medicaid expansion states is projected to drop by 56.5%, from an average of 25.4% of city residents before 2014, to 11.1% by 2016. In a comparison group of seven cities in states that have not expanded Medicaid, other effects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA), will reduce the uninsured rate by 297%, from 27.0% before 2014, to 19.0% by 2016.
