Envision Physician Services Sues UnitedHealth Over Alleged Reimbursement Rate Scheme

On May 2, 2022, Envision Healthcare, a physician services company, and several other physician practices sued UnitedHealth. The plaintiffs allege that UnitedHealthcare Insurance, UnitedHealthcare of Florida, Neighborhood Health Partnership, and UnitedHealth Group collectively offered in-network reimbursement arrangements that were so low that the plaintiff physician service provider organizations could not accept them and remain in business. After they left the network, UnitedHealth paid them less than the in-network rate.

The plaintiffs allege that this tactic is intended to force provider organizations out of the UnitedHealth network to benefit UnitedHealth in the following ways:
