The Vermont Medicaid program plans to cover housing-related services as a health-related social need (HRSN) through its section 1115 demonstration, Global Commitment to Health. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the waiver amendment on January 2, 2025. The approval will be in effect through December 31, 2027. The state anticipates that the new housing services will stabilize the housing situations of eligible beneficiaries and thus increase the likelihood that they will keep receiving and benefitting from the Medicaid- and demonstration-covered services to which they are entitled.
