The Vermont Department for Children and Families' (DCF) Family Services Division (FSD) is establishing a statewide specialized foster care system for youth up to age 18. Specialized foster care is a foster care placement for children and/or youth with acute and/or unique needs including mental health disorders, medical problems, behavioral, and/or safety needs that require a higher level of care than can be offered through standard family foster care.
