Veteran Dementia Rates Highest In Southeast U.S. 

Dementia rates for U.S. veterans were higher in the Southeast than in other regions of the country, even after accounting for income differences and other variables, according to a recent study. Regional differences may be contributing factors, including variations in socioeconomic disparities, prevalence of risk factors, access and quality of health care, and diagnostic variability, according to the study. With dementia incidence varying significantly across regions, the findings highlight the need for targeted health care planning, public health interventions, and policy development, the researchers stated.
