Virginia To Exit Federal Oversight Of Developmental Disability System
Virginia will exit federal oversight of its developmental disability system (DD). On January 15, 2025, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia concluded the state’s 12-year settlement agreement for its DD system by approving a permanent injunction jointly proposed by the Commonwealth and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
