MDLIVE Data Shows Virtual Care Can Reduce Unnecessary ER & Urgent Care Visits By 19%
Virtual care can reduce unnecessary emergency department and urgent care visits by 19%, according to data collected by Cigna subsidiary MDLIVE. Virtual urgent care visits also reduced duplication of care by 16%, compared to other virtual primary care provider organizations or specialists.
The data indicated that virtual visits reduced the need for lab work, which resulted to a $118.00 average savings per episode of care for urgent care episodes.
