Washington DOC Developing ‘Robust Gender-Responsive Program’ In Women’s Prison Division

On August 15, 2022, the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) announced plans to develop a more robust gender responsive program within the newly created women’s prison division. The plans are based on a recently delivered Gender Informed Practices Assessment (GIPA) that evaluated the state’s practices at its women’s prison. The assessment spanned the process from admission to release to identify areas of opportunity.
