Washington State Approves New 120-Bed Psychiatric Hospital In Tacoma

On January 15, 2016, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) approved a proposal to build a 120-bed psychiatric hospital in Tacoma, Washington. The proposal was submitted by MultiCare Health System (MHS) and CHI Franciscan Health System (CHI-FH), who partnered as Alliance for South Sound Health. An alternate proposal, submitted by Signature Healthcare LLC as Tacoma Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, to build a 174-bed psychiatric hospital in Tacoma was rejected. Both proposals were filed with the DOH on December 16, 2014.
