Washington State Closing Rainier School Unit
The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is closing one of the three intermediate care facilities at Rainier School in Buckley, a residential habilitation center (RHC) for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The closure affects Program Area Team (PAT) A, which currently has 54 residents. After all residents are transferred, the program will close. Some residents have been transitioned to one of the state’s other three RHCs, and others were/are being placed in community settings both residential and state operated. Many of the PAT A residents have been transitioned to nursing facilities.
