Washington State To Form New Department Of Children, Youth & Families
Washington State Governor Jay Inslee released a plan last month to fundamentally restructure how services are delivered to at-risk children and families. Central to this plan is the creation of the new cabinet-level Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), which eventually will administer services currently operated by Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and the Department of Early Learning.
On July 1, 2017, a newly formed Office of Innovation and Alignment will begin leading efforts to shape the new agency. After a still-undefined transition phase, the services DCYF will take over include:
