Washington State Medicaid Requests Waiver To Cover Children Continuously Up To Age 6
Washington State released plans for a continuous enrollment provision for Medicaid-eligible children up to age six. The goal is to avoid temporary health insurance losses among young children due to eligibility determinations, which creates churn as children cycle from covered to uninsured to covered again. On May 11, 2022, the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) released a draft 1115 Medicaid waiver demonstration renewal with the provision. Eligible children will be continuously enrolled in Apple Health until they turn six, with no income reassessment or reapplication required.
