Wellpath Awarded $4.2 Million Correctional Medical Contract In Buncombe County, North Carolina

The Buncombe County Detention Facility in North Carolina has awarded Wellpath a $4.2 million contract to provide correctional health care services. The contract began July 1, 2026, and runs through June 30, 2028. The contract was previously held by MEDIKO, Inc.

Wellpath is responsible for providing or arranging for all professional medical, dental, mental health and all related health care to include regularly scheduled sick call, nursing care, regular physician care, medical specialty services (including but not limited to medication assisted treatment [MAT] services), emergency medical care, emergency ambulance services when medically necessary, medical records management, pharmacy services management . . .
