West Virginia To Add 600+ Addiction Treatment Beds
On April 25, 2017, a new West Virginia law went into effect to add addiction treatment beds. The law is the result of House Bill (HB) 2428, which directs the state Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to create more addiction treatment beds by July 1, 2018, either at state-run facilities, or privately owned facilities. The facilities adding beds will be required to give preference to West Virginia residents, accept Medicaid patients, offer long-term treatment of up to one year, and work closely with local Adult Drug Court programs.
