Young People Living With A Chronic Illness Are Three Times More Likely To Attempt Suicide
Adolescents and young adults between ages 15 to 30 who are living with a chronic illness are three times more likely to attempt suicide than their healthy peers. Those with chronic illness were 28% more likely to have suicidal thoughts than healthy individuals, and those with chronic illness were 134% more likely to have suicide plans. Those with chronic illness were 4.6 times more likely to make a suicide attempt.
