Arizona Governor Jan Brewer recommended that the state implement a performance-based education plan for fiscal years 2014-2015 that links school funding to student academic performance. The recommendation was part of the Governors proposed budget. If adopted, it would change the basic school aid formulacurrently $5,244 per studentto reduce the attendance-based allocation to fund bonuses to schools that have high student achievement or improve student performance on standardized tests.
