On April 13, 2020, California Department of Social Services (DSS) implemented plans to spend another $42 million to help youth avoid aging out of foster care during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The appropriations were released in a memo, “Section 36.00—California Department Of Social Services, Increase Of Emergency Funding For COVID-19 Response.” Augmentations to the Budget Act items are needed to provide support to state, local governments, and non-profits to protect the health and safety of Californians and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak . . .
