The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sought applications from organizations interested in developing integrated primary care and behavioral health care services. The total available four-year grant funding was $35 million, with annual individual grant awards capped at $400,000. Responses were due June 8, 2012; awards to 30 organizations were announced in October 2012. Their projects will start within four months of the award. Through this program, SAMHSA seeks to help communities improve access to primary care for individuals with mental illness; improve prevention, early identification, and intervention to reduce the incidence . . .
