In this letter issued on June 19, 2020 by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), the state responded to OSEP's critique that VDOE was not properly responding to and monitoring complaints related to special education programs. The OSEP critique pertains to he federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). In the letter, VDOE said it is contesting some of the findings, but it committed to address any areas of noncompliance.
