The legislation would decriminalize marijuana at the federal level and remove it from the Controlled Substances Act. The bill H.R.3884, was passed by the House of Representatives (228 in favor and 164 against) on December 7, 2020. The MORE Act has been referred to the Senate Committee on Finance. In addition to rescheduling marijuana, it would impose a 5% tax on marijuana to fund community and small business grant programs, make Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and services available to marijuana-related legitimate businesses, and prohibit the denial of federal public benefits based on certain marijuana-related conduct . . .
