Tonya Copeland, MBA, Vice President, Solutions Partner with UnitedHealthcare, opened the I/DD Summit with her keynote, “For I/DD Services, “Managed Care” Is Not A Bad Word: How United Healthcare Is Expanding Services To Meet This Growing Need.” Ms. Copeland shared the positive power of managed care to delivery whole person care that improves outcomes for this complex consumer group while addressing the cost of care.
Attendees heard, “From Obscurity Into The Spotlight–Telehealth’s Evolutionary Path In Behavioral Health & How Beacon Continues To Light The Way” from Hossam Mahmoud, M.D., Regional Chief Medical Officer for Beacon Health Options. Dr. Mahmoud focused on an increased emphasis on behavioral and physical health integration and whole person care, care coordination and collaboration across disparate behavioral health services, Model-based clustering and predictive data analytics, and support for network adequacy and access.
Douglas Nemecek, M.D., Chief Medical Officer – Behavioral Health with Evernorth/Cigna shared his keynote, “Filling In the Gaps: How Evernorth Is Driving Better Health For Complex Consumers.” The presentation focused on the need for partnerships and innovations to creating a comprehensive health care system to improve outcomes for consumers with complex needs.
OPEN MINDS Chief Executive Officer, Monica E. Oss, share the results of the 2022 OPEN MINDS National Innovation Survey during her opening remarks. During her closing keynote, “Another Emergency? Innovation Is The Key To A Resilience Playbook,” Ms. Oss shared a new management model that addressed the challenges of the ongoing era of instability requiring executives to adopt a new management model.
