GETTYSBURG, Pa. (July 3, 2022) – Registration is open for The 2022 OPEN MINDS Management Best Practices Institute which will be held live August 30 through September 1, 2022, at the Newport Beach Marriott in Newport Beach, California. Keynoting the institute are two Beacon Health Options’ executives. On Wednesday, August 31, Wendy Martinez Farmer, Chief Executive Officer of The Georgia Collaborative ASO, a partnership between Beacon Health Options, Georgia Crisis and Access Line (operated by Behavioral Health Link), will present her keynote, “988 Is The New 911: Beacon Is Answering The Call In The Crisis Response Movement.” On Thursday, September 1, M. Lauren Sims, Payment Innovation Director at Beacon Health Options, will start the day with her keynote presentation, “Scratching The Surface Of What Value Based Performance Can Be–Anthem’s Proposed Path Forward.”

This institute is the only national event focused on the management best practices and “must have” competencies that health and human service executives need to improve the service system. It will feature a plethora of dynamic educational sessions, inspiring keynote addresses, and numerous networking opportunities.

“Sustainability in this new environment requires staying up-to-date on the industry’s management and best practices,” says Monica E. Oss, Chief Executive Officer at OPEN MINDS. “In order get ahead of the curve, leaders must continually refresh their knowledge of the clinical, financial, and administrative practices needed to run today’s organizations serving consumers with chronic conditions and deliver on what payers want. This institute brings executives and experts from leading organizations to explore successful and innovative treatment programs and share their strategies for success in a complicated health and human services market.”

The institute officially kicks off on August 30, with The 2022 OPEN MINDS Children’s Services Executive Summit, which features keynote April Hamilton, Executive Deputy Director, Division of Program Development and Management, Office of Health Insurance Programs at the New York State Department of Health’s Office of Health Insurance Programs. Ms. Hamilton will present her insights on achieving whole person care in her presentation “Integrated Care Models For Children: What Is Working In New York & Beyond.” Additionally, OPEN MINDS’ Senior Associates will share best practices for contracting with health plans at two executive seminars: Succeeding With Value-Based Reimbursement: An OPEN MINDS Executive Seminar On Organizational Competencies & Management Best Practices For Value-Based Contracts and How To Build Value-Based Payer Partnerships: An OPEN MINDS Executive Seminar On Best Practices In Marketing, Negotiating & Contracting With Health Plans.

Our keynotes will be followed by a full day of sessions on the latest trends, from optimizing workforce recruitment and retention in the face of retail health organizations like Amazon and Walmart, developing ‘winning’ health plan contracts by demonstrating results, improving ‘your brand’ through marketing-based practices, and making mergers work.

Highlights include, CFOs will convene on the latest strategies in financial management in “Building A “Financial Management Culture” Beyond The CFO: Best Practices & Financial Systems To Improve Organizational Decision Making,” led by OPEN MINDS’ Senior Associate, Ken Carr. And executives will discuss creating new service line opportunities during the session, “Preparing For CalAIM – Developing New Service Models To Capitalize On The New CalAIM Opportunities.”

Chief Executive Officer of OPEN MINDS, Monica E. Oss, will close out the institute with her keynote session.

For executives who can’t make the institute in person, keynotes, the summit, and select sessions will be available to live stream during the event.
