This year’s three day event will focus on moving innovation to action and sustainable strategies for organizations serving consumers with complex conditions in the “next normal.” Here are some institute highlights you won’t want to miss.
Tuesday, June 14 Institute Highlights
Starting the institute is two executive summits. “The 2022 OPEN MINDS I/DD Executive Summit” will feature keynote speaker Tonya Copeland, MBA, Vice President – Solutions Partner, Strategic Solutions, UnitedHealthcare Community & State Chief. Hear how the state of managed care at United Healthcare started, how it’s going, and where it’s headed as it attempts to expand services for growing needs in the I/DD healthcare space in Ms. Copeland’s presentation, “For I/DD Services, “Managed Care” Is Not A Bad Word: How United Healthcare Is Expanding Services To Meet This Growing Need.”

Wednesday, June 15 Institute Highlights
Monica E. Oss will kick off the institute by sharing the results of The 2022 OPEN MINDS National Innovation Survey. Following Ms. Oss, Hossam Mahmoud, M.D., Regional Chief Medical Officer, Beacon Health, will present his keynote: “From Obscurity Into The Spotlight–Telehealth’s Evolutionary Path In Behavioral Health & How Beacon Continues To Light The Way.” Dr. Hossam will discuss an increased emphasis on behavioral and physical health integration and whole person care, care coordination and collaboration across disparate behavioral health services, Model-based clustering and predictive data analytics, and support for network adequacy and access.

Thursday, June 16 Institute Highlights
Douglas Nemecek, M.D. Chief Medical Officer, of Evernorth will kick off the final day of the institute with his keynote address, “Filling In the Gaps: How Evernorth Is Driving Better Health For Complex Consumers.” Hear how Evernorth plans to tackle this challenge, and how your specialty provider organization plays a major role in the development of creating a comprehensive health system.
Next will be a topical case study, “Emerging Hybrid Models For Addiction Treatment,” which will spark a discussion on how to best measure treatment effectiveness using the metrics and data needed to assess the efficacy of a blended approach to care, and best practices in leveraging technology to deliver care in the “next normal.”
