Making Value-Based Reimbursement Work – Best Practices In Program Design & Management — A Free Virtual Event By Value Based Care For Behavioral Health, Qualifacts + Credible & OPEN MINDS

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 9, 2021) — On May 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm EST, OPEN MINDS will host a webinar, Making Value-Based Reimbursement Work – Best Practices In Program Design & Management, available free of charge courtesy of the Value Based Care for Behavioral Health online community and Qualifacts + Credible. This event will showcase value-based reimbursement (VBR) program design, development, and management, as well as insights on how to have a successful VBR relationship with a health plan.

“As value-based reimbursement programs grow in importance, provider organizations are challenged with understanding how to design and implement these programs and maintain a positive relationship with the health plan,” said Monica Oss, Chief Executive Officer at OPEN MINDS. “Provider organizations must also be well versed in negotiating with health plans when designing and developing these programs. To provide organizations with an example of these type of programs and how to maintain these relationships, we’ve developed the upcoming webinar for our members.”

Most executives know that VBR is the way of the future, but many still don’t know how to design and manage a program that works. In this web forum, two executives with a wealth of experience will share their advice on how to negotiate, design, and implement a successful VBR relationship with a health plan.

The session will feature two case studies:

  • Hazelden’s VBR program design, development, and successful management
  • First-hand insights from a large payer on how to have a successful VBR relationship with a health plan

Our faculty for this event will include Ashley Gibson Director Of Payer Relations, Contracts & Utilization at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and Donna Esposito, Director of Payer Relations at THRIVE DETECT. Ms. Gibson has been part of Hazelden Betty Ford since 2006, working in a direct clinical role and then shifting focus to using her clinical skills and expertise to support clients through her work with third party payers. Having direct clinical experience, coupled with the Utilization Review background working on both the payer and provider sides has lent itself well to supporting Hazelden Betty Ford in maximizing payer relationships and patient experience as it relates to utilization. Ms. Esposito has over 20 years of health care leadership experience predominantly in value-based care developing innovative solutions from both payer and provider perspectives, across all lines of business for both physical and behavioral health populations. Ms. Esposito is an avid public speaker on value-based care and has supported the ASCO Payment Reform Workgroup as the only non-clinical member in developing VBC guidelines and a member of IHA Technical Payment Committee, the largest APM in the country. Her work in designing, negotiating, and operationalizing physical and behavioral health integration has led to two innovative APMs publicized through press release.
