OPEN MINDS Announces Two March 2021 Seminars – Optimizing Tech Investments & Buying EHRs For Future Needs
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (February 21, 2021) – On March 9, 2021 OPEN MINDS will host a pair of executive seminars as part of The OPEN MINDS 2020 Technology & Analytics Institute– How To Optimize Technology: An OPEN MINDS Seminar On Getting The Most Value From Your Technology Investments, by Senior Associate Paul Duck, and Finding An Electronic Health Record System For Your Future: The OPEN MINDS Seminar On Best Practices In EHR Selection, Contracting, & Optimization, by Senior Associate Joseph P. Naughton-Travers, Ed.M.
The OPEN MINDS 2020 Technology & Analytics Institute will run March 9-11, 2021, as a virtual event and will also offer on-site outdoor networking opportunities at the M Resort Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada. This institute is the only boot camp for c-suite executives focused on how to leverage technology for strategic advantage in the “next normal” — from strategy, to budgeting, to optimization.
At 10 a.m. ET, Mr. Duck will discuss how to optimize technology to ensure organizations are maximizing tech investments, including how to evaluate new technologies; engaging staff in a best practice technology evaluation process; determining anticipated financial and non-financial return-on-investments; moving beyond pilots to full implementation; and ensuring implementation success.
“Technology has become more strategic than ever before,” said Mr. Duck. “With the changes in the health care economy and the increasing role that technology plays in both treatment and management oversight, leaders are shifting their focus toward tools that allow their organizations to gain new efficiencies and competitive advantages.”
Paul M. Duck has over 30 years of experience in leadership and management focusing on managed care, health information technology organizations, strategy, business development, market expansion, and customer experience optimization. Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Duck served as the Vice President of Strategy and Development at Beacon Health Options. Prior organizations include several leadership roles in software and technology companies including several which he founded or acquired. Mr. Duck has also has extensive experience with provider organizations, payers and health plans, software and technology companies, trade associations as well as governmental agencies.
At 1:30 p.m. ET, Mr. Naughton-Travers will discuss how to invest in an electronic health record (EHR), including a best-practice model for assessing the tech functionality needed for future success; steps for vetting vendors and their products and services; budgeting for EHR software and implementation; and ensuring best value and performance in contract negotiating.
“In the past five years, I’ve dealt with several major failed EHR software implementations,” said Mr. Naughton-Travers. “Did they pick the wrong product? The wrong software vendor? Or did they just fail at the implementation itself? Executive teams need to talk about the best practices in identifying their needs, vetting the vendors and contracting, and how to successfully implement a robust EHR.”
Joe Naughton-Travers, Ed.M. has more than 30 years of experience in the health and human service field. During his tenure as a senior associate with OPEN MINDS, he has served as lead on dozens of client initiatives, served as editor of OPEN MINDS publications, and is the author of many groundbreaking articles and presentations. Mr. Naughton-Travers has a broad range of experiences in private and public sector delivery of behavioral health and social services. He started his career as a behavioral health clinician, working in both child welfare and community mental health clinic settings.
Individual registrations for the seminar are available for $125 at https://openminds.com/register-now-tai/. The All-Access Institute Pass to The OPEN MINDS Technology Management Institute includes this seminar.
