Ensuring Leadership Continuity—The Coleman Health Services Case Study is starting in

OPEN MINDS CEO, Monica E. Oss, Kicks Off ASAP Annual Conference September 11

Gettysburg, Pa. (September 5, 2023) — Monica E. Oss, Chief Executive Officer for OPEN MINDS, will open the 24th Annual Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State (ASAP) Conference on September 11, with her session, “New Challenges Demand New Approaches: Reimaging Our Responses to Ensure that Our Organizations and Services Get Stronger”, focused on new market drivers, sustainability challenges, and growth opportunities in the coming years. The session will be followed by an executive workshop, “The Leadership Challenge – Reimaging Our Organizations in a Changing Health & Human Service Landscape” covering key leadership challenges and the competencies to develop leadership success.

“The market has changed. Consumer expectations, competitors, payer expectations, a workforce crisis, and emerging technologies are all challenging service providers. A plan for the future of our service infrastructure must be developed to ensure stability and sustainability. Ms. Oss will set the tone for the conference by helping us to reimagine our business and service strategies—using innovation as a catalyst for change,” said John J. Coppola, Executive Director for ASAP.

OPEN MINDS Senior Associate, Dee DeWitt will be leading two, preconference sessions – “New Workforce Challenges Demand New Approaches: Reimagining Our Responses to Strengthen Our Workforce” and “New Business & Program Challenges Demand New Approaches: Reimagining Our Responses to Build Organizational Sustainability”. Mr. DeWitt will also deliver two workshops on Monday, September 11, as next steps on these topics for conference attendees.

“Executive teams for organizations need to be ready to lead their teams with a focused strategy centered on sustainability,” said Ms. Oss. “Sustainability strategies require organizations to address service lines, health plan partnerships, workforce challenges, and technology plans that focus on the strengths and opportunities. We hope to instill in the conference attendees the need to address these areas now to be prepared for the future.”

The 24th Annual ASAP Conference will take place September 11 through the 13, with a preconference institute on September 10. The conference is designed for persons interested in effective substance use disorder and problem gambling prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction services. ASAP conference attendees are a mix of program administrators and directors, clinical staff and other professionals from local, state and federal organizations.
