(June 12, 2016) — OPEN MINDS, a leading national strategic advisory firm in health and human services, continued the expansion of its nationally-acclaimed consulting practice by announcing the addition of two new Senior Associates: Mitchell Bredie, Psy.D. and Brandon Danz, M.H.A., M.P.A.

With a special focus on payer and health plan collaboration, the new consultants bring to OPEN MINDS impressive expertise in key areas such as, strategic planning, program design, rate development, and budgeting.

Before joining OPEN MINDS, Mitchell Berdie, Psy.D. was the program director of clinical strategy for the behavioral health and employee assistance programs at Anthem. In that role, he directed cross-functional program planning and coordination for Behavioral Health services covering 24M members in commercial division; developed customized managed behavioral health and employee assistance solutions for customers; and lead the integration of strategic planning between the programs and other enterprise departments, including finance, analytics, and corporate development. Dr. Berdie’s previous roles include Director of Business Development for the Anthem Employee Assistance Program, Founder & Associate Director of Pro Behavioral Health, Inc., and Associate Director for the Geriatric Resource Organization. An experienced executive, he brings to OPEN MINDS clients expertise in:

  • New program design and development
  • Health plan contracting and contract management
  • Rate development for value-based payment models
  • Strategic planning

Prior to joining the OPEN MINDS team, Brandon Danz, M.H.A., M.P.A. worked as a Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. In this role, he was involved with key initiatives in health care reform within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Danz now works with OPEN MINDS’ clients to assist them in the development and implementation of strategies to respond to the changing health and human service environment. He brings industry expertise in:

  • New program design and budgeting for human services
  • Proposal and grant writing
  • Public sector human services administration
  • Superutilizer population management
