An Executive Perspective: How AI Is Shaping The Future Of Integrated Care is starting in

OPEN MINDS Institute Looks To The Future As Evolving Technologies Converge With Health Care Provider Organizations During The 2025 OPEN MINDS Technology & Analytics Institute

GETTYSBURG, PA. (November 9, 2025) — From October 21 – 23, 2025, 600 health and human services executives gathered in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for The 2025 OPEN MINDS Technology & Analytics Institute. Held annually and renowned for keeping behavioral health care leaders at the head of the technology curve, this executive event equipped participants with the strategic edge necessary to optimize their companies across a wide range of organizational functions from workforce management to care delivery with next-generation technologies.

At the most popular OPEN MINDS institute since the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a sold-out exhibit hall featuring 28 cutting-edge tech solutions for the challenges facing behavioral health and independent living organizations today. New graduates of the OPEN MINDS Leadership & Management Certificate Program celebrated their accomplishment and shared the insights they have gained from the program. Attendees enjoyed connecting at several bustling networking receptions and luncheons sponsored separately by Medicus IT, Qualifacts, Eleos Health and Cantata.

One highlight of the institute was the Thursday keynote on the hottest topic of 2025: the benefits and dangers of integrating AI into health care. The author of breaking legislation in Illinois which regulates the use of AI in behavioral health, Kyle Hillman, Director of Legislative Affairs at the National Association Of Social Workers-Illinois, held a riveting discussion with Monica E. Oss, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OPEN MINDS. He shared the research, insights, and concerns that drove his efforts to regulate AI in his state and urged attendees to consider some of the toughest and most overlooked questions in the field. Mr. Hillman emphasized: “We need to stand back and ask: how is our use of AI affecting our clients? and how is it affecting the treatment that we’re providing? In the end, AI is a tool for the clinician. The minute that tool replaces the clinician as the decision-maker and drives how your business is run or the service you provide is the minute I think we’ve crossed the line.”

Attendance was high and energizing for both the 2025 OPEN MINDS Smart Home Expo, sponsored by Trillium, and the CEO Tech & AI Summit, sponsored by Qualifacts. The Expo, held on October 22, showed participants how adaptive devices and AI-enabled supports are driving the future of independent living and enhanced quality of life for people of all abilities.

The Summit, held on October 22, gave an executive-level take on the use of AI and emerging technologies to: create a technology-first organizational mindset, stay ahead of cybersecurity and privacy issues, and implement needs-aligned tech to stay distinct and competitive in the next decade of health and human services.

Speakers from a variety of payer organizations discussed their innovative programs at the forefront of the payer industry: CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Carelon, Community Behavioral Health, and Lucet Health.

“There’s no doubt that AI and tech-assisted living are here to say. As we explore and expand into this new frontier, our challenge as leaders will be to ensure our innovations advance safe and equitable care, service delivery, and revenue for all tiers of the behavioral health care ecosystem,” reflected OPEN MINDS CEO, Monica E. Oss.
