The Best Of The 2023 OPEN MINDS Executive Leadership Retreat

Gettysburg, PA. (October 1, 2023) – September 19-21, 275 health and human services executives gathered to refresh, rethink, and reimagine in beautiful and historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for The 2023 OPEN MINDS Executive Leadership Retreat. This one-of-a-kind experience is renowned for being the only executive gathering dedicated to creating performance-driven executives who can build performance-driven organizations. The retreat shared lessons learned from past and present leaders on how to decide what needs to be done, inspire teams to embrace the new challenges in the field, and create a framework for organizational transformation.

The retreat kicked off on Tuesday, September 19th with two executive seminars:

Keynote presenter M. Lauren Sims, MA, LPC, MBA, Former Payment Innovation Director at Elevance Health, offered an inside glimpse into value-based reimbursement, what it takes to build an effective practice and service model, and how organizations can best measure and present outcomes. Then, on September 20, we heard from Gary Mendell, MBA, Founder & Chief Executive Officer at Shatterproof as he shared his personal story and inspiration for starting Shatterproof. Plus the organization’s impact, progress, and vision for the future.

On September 20th, the institute agenda featured The 2023 OPEN MINDS Health & Human Services Workforce Best Practices Summit, sponsored by NextGen Healthcare, where leaders from Aspire Indiana, Children’s Bureau, Daymark Recovery Services, KPC Health, and Woods Services shared their innovative approaches to solving modern workforce challenges.
