OPEN MINDS Elite Member Web Forum—The Path To Retail Health Care Featuring Executives From CVS, Kroger Health, & Convenient Care Association—To Be Held June 3

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 23, 2021) – On June 3 at 1:00 pm ET, OPEN MINDS will host the executive web forum, Meet The Retail Clinic Leadership: Where They Have Been & Where They Are Going, for executives of health and human service organizations. This executive web forum will feature interviews with Tine Hansen-Turton, Executive Administrator, Convenient Care Association; Angela Patterson, Vice President of CVS Health & Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer of CVS MinuteClinic; and Marc Watkins, MD, Chief Medical Officer, The Kroger Co. & Kroger Health.

“Going retail is a big strategic decision,” said OPEN MINDS Chief Executive Officer, Monica E. Oss. “Executives will need a strong strategy backed by research, multiple scenario forecasts, and financial projections. But preparing to be competitive in the retail market also makes an organization more competitive in the health plan market, and hearing from successful leaders who have ‘gone retail’ with health care will really inform provider organization planning sessions.”

In this executive web forum, we will interview the leadership of the Convenient Care Association, the national member organization for retail clinic operators, and learn more about their role moving forward. Executive attendees will learn about:

  • Growth and innovation with new players in the marketplace like managed care and large hospital systems
  • Major trends in health care relating to consumerism and how this can vary regionally
  • How to create a seamless system of care by integrating health into all aspects of the retail shopping experience, including the use of data analytics.

Tine Hansen-Turton serves as the founding Executive Administrator and Director for the Convenient Care Association (CCA), the national trade association of the more than 3000 private-sector retail clinic industry, coined by the late Harvard Professor Clayton Christensen, as a disruptive health innovation, serving millions of people with basic health care services across the country. In addition to her role as CEO of Woods Services, she assists CCA with business and programmatic strategy, development, coordination and implementation, as well as with policy development and state and national advocacy.

Angela Patterson is an advanced practice registered nurse, Vice President at CVS Health, and Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer of CVS MinuteClinic. In this role, she is responsible for providing clinical and professional practice governance for the more than 3,100 nurse practitioners and physician assistants who staff the organization’s more than 1,100 retail medical clinics located across 33 states and the District of Columbia.

Dr. Marc Watkins, MSPH, FACOEM is the Chief Medical Officer of Kroger Health, the healthcare arm of The Kroger Co., which comprises more than 2,200 pharmacies in 37 states and Washington D.C., more than 220 locations of The Little Clinic in nine states, as well as 11 specialty pharmacies across the country. Working with a cross functional team of pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, and technical care providers, he helps to develop the strategic direction and overall clinical program initiatives for our providers and delivers clinical guidance for associate benefit design. He is also responsible for regulatory and accreditation requirements, maintaining a comprehensive suite of high-quality care for patients. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, he has also advised the company on its response, including testing and vaccination efforts.
