VOA & Humana To Present Fostering Innovation & Entrepreneurship With Managed Care Organizations At January 12 OPEN MINDS Circle Elite Executive Roundtable

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (December 27, 2022) — On January 12, 2022, at 1 p.m. ET, Stephen Samuels, Vice President, Innovation & Impact Investing for Volunteers of America (VOA) and Abbie Gilbert, Associate Director, Office of Health Affairs & Advocacy with Humana will present during the OPEN MINDS Circle Elite Executive Roundtable Fostering Innovation & Entrepreneurship With Managed Care Organizations — The VOA & Humana Case Study. Executive attendees of this session will learn about understanding the value proposition of non-profit impact investing and entrepreneurship support, why Humana invests in early-stage companies and entrepreneurship support strategies, and VOA’s Futures Fund Community Health Incubator, sponsored by the Humana Foundation.

“Overcoming social determinants of health and ensuring consumers have access to quality, equitable health care is vital to being successful with value-based reimbursement,” said OPEN MINDS Chief Executive Officer Monica E. Oss. “What Humana and VOA are doing is not just beneficial to their markets, but the health care marketplace as a whole.”

In 2021, Volunteers of America (VOA) and Humana Foundation collaborated on the launch of a Community Health Incubator, designed to accelerate social enterprise to improve quality, equity, and access to care for Medicaid and at-risk populations. The health equity entrepreneurship ensures that outcomes are impact-first, with user-driven solutions that directly respond to local and national health care gaps. The program includes business training, coaching, grants, and large catalytic capital investments all to help scale non-profit and for-profit social enterprise.
