The Upside of Downsizing

I've always found the federal jobs statistics to be confusing. The August jobs report (see Employment Situation Summary and August Jobs Report) showed that hiring slowed in August but the economy added 315,000 jobs. Professional services and health care led the new job creation, at 68,000 and 48,000 jobs added, respectively. The unemployment rate rose from 3.5% to 3.7%, in part because the labor force—the number of people working and looking for jobs—increased by 800,000.

But in health care, digital health companies have been hard hit over the past few months . . .
