Charitable Giving To Professional Fundraising Efforts In New York During 2021 Was Over $1.7 Billion, Up 17% Over 2020

During 2021, charitable giving to professional fundraising efforts in the state of New York exceeded $1.7 billion. This is an increase of about 17% ($250 million) over giving in 2020. During 2021, professional fundraisers received over a quarter of every dollar donated to the charities that employed them in 2021. This totaled more than $460 million in total payment to cover the professional fundraisers’ fees and expenses. Professional fundraisers are outside, for-profit organizations that are often hired by charities to run fundraising campaigns.
