CMS Launches Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program With $50 Monthly Copayment For Weight Loss Medications
On July 1, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) introduced the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, allowing eligible beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage to obtain certain glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) medications for weight management with a $50 monthly copayment. The short-term demonstration is scheduled to run through December 31, 2027. Three brand-name products – Foundayo, Wegovy, and Zepbound (KwikPen form only) – are covered through the demonstration.
