West Virginia Medicaid To Develop Opiate Addiction Treatment Program For Justice-Involved Beneficiaries

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) is developing a pilot opiate addiction treatment program that may include medication assisted treatment for Medicaid beneficiaries involved with the criminal justice system. The program is structured as a pilot that can treat enrollees diagnosed with opioid addiction who are in the state Supreme Court’s Adult Drug Court Program and/or the Division of Corrections’ work release program. The pilot is intended to provide access to a non-narcotic, long-acting antagonist therapy to those participating in the pilot program.
