U.S. Employers Expect Health Care Benefits Costs Will Increase 5% In 2018

Employers in the United States expect health care benefits costs to increase 5% in 2018. Including premiums and out-of-pocket costs for those covered, the total cost of health care for employees and their dependents is estimated to be $13,482 in 2017, and is expected to rise to an average of $14,156 in 2018. Employers will cover almost 70% of those costs equaling more than $9,400 per employee family in 2017, and approximately $9,900 per employee in 2018.
