San Diego City Council Approves $6.5 Million For ‘Bridge Shelter Program’ To Temporarily House Homeless
On November 14, 2017, the San Diego City Council approved $6.5 million for the "Bridge Shelter Program" to temporarily house homeless citizens in Barrio Logan, the East Village, and the Midway District. The funding was awarded to three provider organizations who will operate temporary industrial tent shelters for seven months to house up to 700 people at any one time. Homeless individuals and families will be able to stay for 120 days. The shelters will also provide basic health services, mental health and addiction counseling, food, security, and assistance with finding permanent housing.
