Texas Strategic Plan For Special Education Will Set Outcomes-Based Performance Measures
On April 23, 2018, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released a draft of its comprehensive strategic plan for special education. Key provisions of the plan include setting outcomes-based performance measures for all those involved in monitoring school districts to ensure that they comply with federal standards to identify and evaluate students with disabilities, and ensure that the districts utilize best practice education methods. The TEA will provide school districts with technical assistance. However, the state intends to implement the plan within existing funding.
