African-American children in Texas were more likely than Anglo-American or Hispanic children to be involved with the child welfare system during 2017. African-American are 1.7 times more likely than Anglo-American children to be the subject of an abuse or neglect report in 2017; 1.9 times more likely to be involved in a maltreatment investigation; and 1.9 times more likely to be removed from their homes. Hispanic children were slightly less likely than Anglo children to be reported, investigated, or removed.
