20% Of Nursing Home Residents Receive Antipsychotics, While Only 2% Have Required Diagnosis
As of the second quarter of 2018, 20% of nursing home residents received antipsychotics, however just 2% have a diagnosis that calls for an antipsychotic. In facilities throughout the U.S., the percentage of residents who are receiving antipsychotic drugs ranges from 0% to 100%.
These findings were reported in "U.S. Nursing Home Antipsychotic Drugging Rates: 2018Q2" by the Long-Term Care Community Coalition (LTCCC).
