Texas Blues & Texas A&M University To Test Drones & Self-Driving Cars For Rural Health Delivery
On March 11, 2019, BlueCross and BlueShield of Texas (BCBSTX) and the Texas A&M University Health Science Center announced an agreement on a new joint effort to research and identify innovative care delivery strategies to improve rural health care across the state. One of the four projects being considered will explore using autonomous vehicles, drones, and tele-enabled ambulance services to address distance and access challenges in rural communities. BCBSTX committed $10 million to fund the effort.
